A 20ft shipping container is a remarkably versatile storage space. Roughly the size of a single garage, it can hold an enormous range of items — from household furniture to business stock to garden equipment.
What You Can Store
Household contents
A 20ft container can comfortably hold the contents of a typical three-bedroom house. This makes it ideal for:
- House moves — bridging the gap between properties
- Renovations — clearing rooms while building work takes place
- Downsizing — keeping furniture and belongings while deciding what to do long-term
Business stock and equipment
Many businesses use our containers for overflow stock, tools, equipment, archives, and seasonal items. Common business users include:
- Tradespeople and contractors (tools, materials, equipment)
- Retailers (seasonal stock, surplus inventory)
- Event companies (staging, furniture, decorations)
- Catering businesses (equipment, furniture)
Vehicles and recreational equipment
Motorcycles, quad bikes, jet skis, kayaks, surfboards, camping gear, and garden machinery all store well in containers.
Garden furniture and seasonal items
Garden furniture, patio heaters, paddling pools, and other seasonal items are a popular choice — particularly during the winter months.
What You Cannot Store
As standard, the following should not be stored in our containers:
- Hazardous materials: Petrol, chemicals, solvents, gas cylinders
- Perishable food: Containers are not refrigerated
- Living things: Plants, animals
- Illegal items: Anything prohibited by law
Tips for Making the Most of the Space
- Stack boxes to the ceiling — the full height is usable
- Dismantle flat-pack furniture before storing
- Wrap upholstered items in blankets or furniture covers
- Place heavier items at the back and lighter items near the door for easy access
- We sell packing materials on-site — boxes, tape, and protective wrapping
